Sun Song:
Summer Solstice Celebration
with crafting and ancestral song
With Meagan Chandler
Sunday, June 22
10am-12pm
Santa Fe
$30-80*
On these very longest days of the year, as the sun reaches the northern most point of sunrise, people across the Northern hemisphere mark this important celestial moment with celebration and bonfires, songs and feasting. In Ireland the Solstice is called “Grianstad”, which means “Sun stop”, in honor of this pause in the fullest life-giving light of the year. And we will continue our celebrations together here at the Wellspring as well as we deepen in our connection to our Western European lineages and learn more about both their beauty ways and the grief and accountability needed to heal our ancestral lines in support of work in social justice, anti-racism and decolonization.
Together we will learn a sweet traditional love song to the summer time in Irish and lift it up with the old tradition of tying our hopes and intentions and prayers onto the fairy trees with colorful prayer ties in hopes that we can lend strength to the sun and inspire the monsoons to come and dance here in our beloved desert home.
Come join us this Summer Solstice and be in community together, singing and honoring the complex and dynamic histories we carry together.
All ages and genders welcome!
To join, please RSVP to WELLSPRINGNM.CONNECT@GMAIL.COM or click below. The exchange for this is $30-80 sliding scale, no one is turned away for lack of funds.
